Uncle Kip

Because I want to eventually make my blogs into a book, I want to incorporate some of my family members and what I remember of them for my children and their children. So today's highlight is Uncle Kip.
My Uncle Kip has always had a special place in my heart. When I was little, I remember him coming to my house and making deals with me. One time he even "offered" to pull my tooth. He bribed me by saying he would clean my room if I let him pull it. But, I think the thing I most remember about this uncle of mine is that he always treated me with respect and love. Every time I see Uncle Kip, he pulls me tight and squeezes me until I can't breathe. He has done this since I was very young. I also remember that he came to my baptism. I had invited him and honestly didn't think that he would come. I can still recall the way he smelled when he gave me one of his sqeezes. He gave me a small teddy bear that held a pair of heart socks. I loved that bear...literally to death. I think it fell apart a year or so ago.
Uncle Kip lives across from my Gram Smith. While I was living with her, I made a lot of homemade bread. A couple times he asked me to whip him up a batch of rolls. He ate them up...even if they weren't the best. He made me feel special.
He also makes my children feel special. In fact, Daeson used to call him Papa Tip and ask me if he could call him on the phone. He takes Daeson down to the farm and around on the tractor. He is so good to us. Uncle Kip is a good man, the type that would do anything for anyone. He would help a stranger in need, give the shirt off his back, and never expect anything in return. I think my Uncle is often misunderstood. He truly is an important person in my life as well as in my kids'. We love you Uncle Kip and couldn't be more proud to have you in our lives.

Tiny fingers, big burns

I feel just awful about tonight's events. I was dishing up my children's potato soup and holding Tevan at the same time. The soup was very hot, just seconds before it was boiling. As I dished up a bowl for Tevan, he grabbed it and stuck his tiny hand right in the center...the hottest part. The worst part about it was that I saw it all happen and could do nothing for him. I rushed him to the sink and ran it under cold water. I am so grateful my neighbor, Barbara, was there. She helped me to calm down and take care of the problem. She had some burn ointment that her husband, Jon, brought down. It took forever to get him settled (an hour and half)...I gave him Tylenol and tried to keep it in cold water. He screamed and screamed and I felt so, so terrible. Barbara went down to her house and I called my mom to see what she thought. Run it under cold water...easily said, but not done. After an hour of screaming, I took him down to Barb and Jon's and Jon gave him a blessing. It was so nice to be able to go next door. Shortly after, Tevan calmed down and started acting like himself. Barbara gave him a popsicle...two reasons: he needed something cold on his hand and he hadn't eaten anything since his 2:30 snack. She was so smart to come up with that...I was still in panic-stressed mode. I am so grateful for her and Jon tonight. What wonderful neighbors and friends. Tevan is doing much better and he finally dozed off to sleep. His little hand is still red and swollen, but as long as he is careful it should be okay. I feel so terrible...but Jon said tonight that we can't keep our kids in a padded room...there is not one kid who hasn't had something happen to them. I just feel bad that I could have prevented it and didn't. I guess I am just so used to doing everything with him in my arms...next time he will just have to wait to be picked up. Poor little fellow...I am so sorry!!!!

One of those days

It is one of those days today. BLAH! I don't know if it is because we are getting SNOW right now, or if it is just that nothing seems to be working out right today. I won't go into detail, save you some boring reading. But, I guess I should look at the positive side of things...we are getting more snow so that we will have more water this summer. I am wanting to plant my garden, so maybe I can actually have water to make it grow.

I also wonder if today is one of those days because I have a lot on my mind. I never see Troy...he is gone a lot the last three weeks and now he has to go to a stupid (sorry for the language) meeting in Boise Sunday...leaving me here with the kids, alone. That is exactly how I want to spend my Sunday and Monday...alone. We wanted to go, but it just didn't work out with the van being broken down. So, I will just buck up and deal with it.

I am also starting to be very concerned about the economy, the elections, the state of our country and the whole picture. I worry about what kind of world my children will live in. It is becoming harder and harder to be a stay-at-home-mom and I would just be crushed to leave my kids with someone and go to work. I am realizing more and more how very lucky I am to be here with them. It is a frightening time and I fear it will be worse. Our friend, Andy, came over yesterday and we were talking about the end of the world. We, at first, were joking about it. Then it got turned into a very serious matter to me. I cannot shake it. I know that no one know the day nor time of the Second Coming, and if we are prepared we should not fear...HOLY COW, I AM NOT PREPARED AT ALL!!!! I am not spiritually prepared, I am not disaster prepared, I am not monetarilly prepared and I do not have enough food storage or emergency stuff to be prepared. I know we have been told for a zillion years to get prepared, and now I am starting to panic. I would love to just get things in order and not worry. II am not prepared and I have a lot to do to get there.

Daeson and Tevan, however, are doing great. Daeson tests his waters on a daily basis and my patience run quite thin. But he is a normal two year old boy. His birhtday is coming up and he is extremely excited about that. He asked for a swing set and a puppy. We just got rid of our dogs and already he is asking for more...oh boy. I jsut feel bad I am the mean mom who has to say no. But, we might be able to do the swing set thing...we will see. He doesn't want anything else, so I hope we can pull it off. Maybe for both their birthdays??? My birthday is also coming up...I have given some thought to what I want. I decided there is a lot of things that I want but what could I get the most use out of??? I think I decided on quilting racks...Troy gave me the leg things for Christmas, now I need the 2*4s to go on them, and the clamps and tacs. I also would really like a new sewing machine. BIG ORDER!!! But, I have a lot of sewing and quilting to do, so that is the final wish. Tevan doesn't really understand anything that is going on. He is such a carefree, easy going spirit that he just goes day to day happily. I could learn something from him, I am sure of it.

Well, Happy Thursday to all of you!!! It is almost FRIDAY!!!! HHOOORRRRAAAAYYYY!!!...oh, that means nothing to me, but maybe to the rest of you...one more day to go!!!

Can't we all just get along?

I am on a soapbox...watch out...Okay, so the church that I belong to teaches that we can all be sealed together and live in the life after for Eternity with our families. My question to you is this...what in the world makes us think that if we can't get along in this life that we will be able to get along in the next? I know that our church is true, I do not want to put it across as anything else. I guess maybe I should explain the reason for this particular blog.
Far too often in my family there are quarrels...if they are going to be there, then I am not coming...or, why do you have to invite them?...or, why did you invite that grandma and not the other one? I get so tired of trying to please everyone. Most of the time the reason I don't invite everyone becasue 99% of the time, not everyone comes. It is the same people (which I am grateful for) that come everytime. Why should I waste my time and energy inviting people only to be turned down and then later told that I never invite them and they don't feel welcome. So, back to the title...why does it matter who I choose to invite? Isn't the fact that it is my child's birthday, or my brother's birthday, or my parent's farewell party, or a just because party enough? My sister in law, Kayla, has the most wonderful parents who so happily come to everything. Never once have they said, "Well, if the Grover's are going to be there, I won't come." They have come to so many of our family things and it is wonderful. Not only do we get to be blessed with Kayla in our family, but we get to be blessed with her family. It is such a dream of mine for the animosity to be gone. Why can't people see that it is not the pettiness in the world that matters, but we should just all get along and be happy. If this is how the hereafter is going to be...bickering and fighting over what family member are welcome...then I don't want any part of it. I try so hard to make everyone feel happy and comfortable around each other, but I feel like I am wasting my time. I think that some of the members of my family have it made up in their minds to not be happy. IT IS A CHOICE we make everyday. We can CHOOSE to be happy, WE get to make that CHOICE!!! Redundant? Good...I think it is something we all forget. So, now that I have vented all of that emotion out, I feel better. Sometime I need to just say it...what better way than a blog? My next entry won't be so AAUUUGGGHHH...it will be more pleasant to read. Venting is healthy and it works. I look at my blogs as my journal, so this is the way I choose to vent. SORRY!!

Mom, I pooped outside!!! (He said with a look of accomplishment and joy.)

What can I say? I have been blessed with two boys...one of whom thinks it is a great thing to use the outdoors as his private (or not so private) bathroom. While we were at my mom's house, Daeson had to go frequently. So instead of bringing him inside, taking off all of his clothes, taking him to the bathroom and then dressing him all over, we let him pee off the deck. Well, I guess this has carried over to the city life. This is the conversation I had about five minutes ago.
I was in the garage cleaning and vacuuming the van. Daeson was in the back yard playing in the garden spot. He came running to me...
Mom, I poop in the back yard!!
Daeson, what are you talking about?!? You pooped in the back yard??!!??!!
Yes, I poop. See? (leading me to the back yard) I poop, I show you.
Daeson, why did you poop in the backyard? Who told you it was okay to do that? That is YUCKY!! You don't poop in the back yard...who wiped your bum?
Nobody, see it in my pants.
Daeson, where did you learn that?
No where, I just did it.
Don't do it ever again, do you know how yucky that is? Gross Daeson, gross.
BUT I HAD TO POOP.
I guess that pretty much sums it up. He had to poop.

CONGRATS, HEIDI

My sis in law, Heidi, is getting married on Aug 1, 08. We have not met him yet but we are all excited nonetheless. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

A Whirlwind of a day

What a day today has been.

My best friend's dad passed away today. I am still in shock. He was a great man, one who would help anyone in need...I know because I was that person in need a few times. So my prayers and my deepest sympathies go out to her and her family. Kim will be missed...

Barb and I had a date with our kids to visit Reed's Dairy today. I decided to take my boys over there...I told Daeson he could pet the cows and see where the milk was made. When Barb's mother in law picked up her boys from my house I had told her the boys were very sad they couldn't go to the dairy today. As I was walking out, they walked in. Daeson was thrilled to see them...and they were glad to see Daeson and Tevan. It all worked out as a suprise. Daeson had a blast. We ate strawberry icecream and saw the calves. We even got to see where they milked the cows. It was a great, inexpensive field trip. I really enjoyed it and so did the boys.

We ate at Gandolpho's for lunch today. I was in a hurry to grocery shop and all but inhaled my food. Daeson was chattering like normal and I, only half paying attention, told him to hurry and eat. He kept telling me something...I couldn't quite get it. Finally he said, "Mom, we fordot to tay payer." So I stopped and he said a sweet prayer. I was humbled at this, I never think to pray when I go out to eat. I can learn a lot from him!!!

My Grandparents stopped by today. It was great to see them. The boys slept while they were here, but I had a great visit...in between stirring the food to make for Barb. But they were patient with me and let me do what I needed to do.

Now it is almost midnight and I am not going to proof this, just pst. I have to go switch laundry out...we are leaving at 10 to go to Pocatello tomorrow to bid my parents farewell. BUSy BUSY!!!! Till next time...

I forgot a picture...

Daeson and Dad had a great time. My dad was on call a lot so our days with him were numbered. But, Daeson just loved being out with him...like a shadow. :)

We're back!!!

Well, we are back from Grangeville and we are supposed to be in Las Vegas right now....but plans changed. I don't know if it is for the better, but things happen. It is so nice in Vegas right now. My parents just arrived and are having a great time. Despite the COLD outside...I think it is 45 degrees or so...I bundled the kids and went out the door for a walk tonight for part of FHE. It was nice to be out and we had a great time. Daeson had his cowboy boots on with no socks though and now has a blister on his foot...OUCH. He forgets easily. The nice part of being two.

I have been worked on this blog literally every chance I got today. I moved all my scrapbook stuff downstairs today and now I have a big mess. The joys of remodeling...things get moved a gazillion times before finding a final resting place. I missed the WildFlower Blossoms sale and I actually am not too sad. I would probably have bought new stuff just to sit and accumulate. So, I have decided I am going to get organized this week...during nap time...and clean out all my scrapbook stuff. It needs done badly and I will finally be able to face the task now that I have room to put everything. My mom, for an early b-day present, gave me a paper rack (like the ones in the stores) and I now have all my paper out...calling my name. I am hoping now that my stuff is out of Tevan's room and downstairs I can work on it during nap time. Then I can pound and make noise and he won't hear it. Troy also got the speakers and projector hooked up down there so now Daeson can have movie time. I should spend that time with him, but I think we both need breaks from eachother. Nap time is perfect for that. Enjoy the pictures...it is good to be back!
Tevan had a great time playing in the seed packets. He played for about an hour. I don't know if he was excited for the reflection in the glass or the seeds, but it kept him busy. He loves crawling and does a great job at it. He likes to be able to move around where he wants and when. BIG BOY!!!
We got creative in the bathtub. I gave Daeson my shaving cream and this is what we came up with. It was fun...he ended up covered from head to toe.

We played hide and seek almost every day. I finally got creative and hid Tevan in the laundry basket. Daeson could not find him until Tevan started wiggling and gave the hiding spot away. They have so much fun together and play very well. Daeson and Tevan are quite the pair...best buds.

We went to the park on a whim one night while dinner was in the oven. The weather turned nice for about an hour, so we went out the door to the park. It was so nice. The boys had a great time...and a bit later one of Daeson's new nursery friends showed up at the park. He had a blast playing with his new friend. It will be nice as he gets older to have some summer friends at my mom and dad's house.

Tevan loved the swing. Everytime we tried to take him out, he cried until we put him back in. It was so funny. He loved it...the baby swing is the best invention!

This was the cutest thing. Not five minutes after the other picture was taken. How sweet is that?

Poor Daeson. This was one of the three times he got to play outside. He went out a couple times with my dad, but this was a rare treat for him. The mud in Gville is so black and clay-like and STAINS bad. He ruined a lot of clothes this way. So he got to play in the potting soil with his dump trucks. He had a lot of fun and that is all worth it.

Daeson had a great time dying Easter eggs. He did a good job, too. He made one of every color and was sooo proud of his accomplishment.

This was the egg hunt. He had a lot of fun doing this...I had a lot of fun eating the candy...YUM-YUM! I told you I gained a ton of weight...heheheh.

This is my little cowboy...with the hat and rope mentioned earlier. The rope stays on the fridge most of the time due to the urge to rope Tevan. He thinks he is quite the stuff with this get up!!! All he needs now is a stallion and some Wranglers!!! He even has the "Hello Ladies" down...Thanks to his dad.

This is Tevan's first bath without his bath chair. He loves it. He went under a couple different times, but still wanted to get in and splash around. Daeson thought it was pretty cool to have someone to play with. My mom bought a couple of really fun bath toys and they had a blast!!

This is the boys with my mom. She was happy to see them...it had been since Thanksgiving. That is a LONG time for a Grandma to go without grandkids. So she loved them lots while we were there. She and my dad read to Daeson every night and told him stories...honestly I had no idea my dad had it in him. It was fun to see them interact with my kids.

Oh What a Beautiful Morning

The last two mornings, as soon as Daeson woke up, he said, "Mom, today is a beautiful day." Two year olds have the most positive outlook on life.

It has been nice the last two days...nice meaning no snow and above 35 degrees :). Today we are doing laundry...we leave tomorrow to come home. YIPPEEEEEE!!!!!! I am excited. I won't be back in IF until late Saturday night, but we will be there. I will miss hanging out with my mom and dad, watching American Idol (finally Ramiele is OFFFFF!!!), and I will miss Dancing with the Stars, but it will be nice to be home with my HUSBAND!!! I called him on April Fools to tell him we were staying another two weeks, but he didn't believe me. Not for one minute...or so he says.

Well, I will post some pictures on here in the next few days...as soon as I get home. I filled three cards since I have been up here, hopefully something worth posting. Have a beautiful day...be grateful for what we have...this may mean no drought this summer!!! Yeah! See you all soon!!!

Daeson

Okay, I know I have posted once today but Daeson said a couple things I wanted to post before I forgot. I know I am on vacation, but I am tiring of the indoor scene very fast and so is Daeson. I wish that he could go out to play and be free...but we are couped up in the house...a brand new house that I am worried everyday of tarnishing. But tonight Daeson said some very cute things. I will try to do them justice.

This was a conversation that took place during dinner.
Daeson, you need to eat your food.
Daeson...eat...now. This is supper and you don't get pie if you don't eat.

I have to go potty.

Then go, do you need help? ( I asked because earlier today he was peeing and had his thing (sorry for the graphic content) in one hand and his other hand playing in the stream of PEE..YUCK!!!)

Is the light on, Mom?

No, but I will turn it on. (I returned to the dinner table after turning the light on to feed Tevan. A couple minutes later:)

Mom...(he was standing at the table with his jammies still down and holding a barrett...hands wet)

Daeson why are your hands wet?

Mom...

Daeson, did you pee on your hand again?

Mom...(handing me a barrett that I had earlier taken out of my hair)

Daeson, get in there and wash your hand...why are they wet? Did you already wash them?? Get in there RIGHT NOW!!!!

Mom....I DROPPED IT IN THE TOILET!!!! (it being the barrett that I had taken right before...yuck, yuck yuck!!!)

We all stopped and laughed. My dad said that if I would have just let him finish he was trying to tell me all along. I felt so bad. The whole time Daeson had a look of concern on his face and he was trying so hard to get a word in. Sorry, baby!!! Sometimes I just need to relax!!!

The second thing that happened tonight...after struggling to have FHE and I was tired of him fighting me...was the following.

Daeson had to go potty so off he went. He can't quite reach the sink so my mom has a little stool in there. I hadn't quite finished cleaning up the dirty clothes and towels, so they were on the floor making it very difficult for Daeson to scoot the stool. So he fussed and I went to the bathroom saying.."What is your problem???" Instead of being the great mom I should be and offering to help, he told me the situation. I told him he needed to ask instead of boobing about it and then he would have better results. He fussed and told me he needed help washing his hands. So I turned the water on. It was too cold, so I turned it the other direction. It was warming up so I tried to cool it down after he complained that it was too hot. I said,"Daeson, why do you always complain that it is either too hot or too cold? I can't get it right!!!" By this time I was frusterated. He looked up at me innocently and said, "I don't 'plain if it is warm." Slap me in the face. I felt so bad. I realized I am too hard on him...HE IS TWO!!!!!!

Anyway, one funny story and one very humbling story. Goodnight and sweet dreams!

Another update from the three of us

I guess I should do another update, even though not much has happened.

Tevan continues to amaze me. He crawls, moves around and climbs on things. I shouldn't be suprised I guess...he tries something and goes for it. His second tooth is still trying to break all the way through, and the first is just fine. He is eating big people food now and today had pancakes for the first time. He loved them.

Daeson is ready to come home. He cries for Troy and is wanting to be in Idaho Falls. He misses his friends, but made a new one yesterday at church. His name is Johnny Vannoy. He is a cute boy and a fun friend for Daeson.
I also met a friend yesterday at church. Her name is Cody Farmer. She is my age and is absolutely amazing. She has five children ages nine to 3 mo. What an amazing woman she is!!!!!! I guess she really got me thinking about a lot. I look at other moms and constantly compare myself to them. I am a woman and that is what we do. As I talked to Cody...I spent most of my time in the mother's room with Tevan...I asked her how she did it all. She seemed so organized and together. Her husband goes to school in Lewiston and stays there all week. So she is home with her children (5) by herself Monday thru Thursday night. She has so much to do. They live on a little farm and I am sure she has things to help with that as well as take care of her children. She was an inspiration to me. She admitted to not having her laundry folded and on some nights giving her kids corndogs for dinner, but otherwise she was very put together. I look at my life and I think I often use motherhood as an out. I use it for my excuse as to why things are so hard. But, no more. Yesterday morning I didn't want to go to church because I spend most of the time in the mother's room, but I am so glad I did yesterday. I was inspired. Not by what was said in the meetings, but what was said to me in the mother's lounge as I listened closely to this amazing mother. I decided I am no longer going to make excuses, I am going to try not to complain, and I am going to be the woman I was sent to Earth to be. I am going to bump it up a notch ( or two) and just do it!! I am a woman and I have the strenght to pull it off...it being life. I can do this. I know I can.

Now that I have pep talked myself, I will close. We miss you all and we are so ready to come home. Troy has been staying busy, and I am sad he will be really busy when we get home, but we miss him soooo sooo much. I am ready to be home.

UPDATE FROM GVILLE

Still in Grangeville...with SNOW!! We woke up to three inches this morning. The only one excited was Daeson. But, Saturday and Sunday was nice. In fact, Daeson went on an Easter Egg hunt Saturday at the park. I was nice. He got 27 eggs and they had YUMMY candy in them. He even got one egg with a dollar. That made his day. It took us an hour to get through all the eggs, and another hour to explain to him why he couldn't eat all the candy in one sitting. After the hunt, which I got on video, he played on the playground. He loved that. Tevan just hung out and had a great time watching all the kids. They even got pictures with the Easter Bunny. It was cute.

Tevan has changed so, so much in a week! Troy is going to be so suprised when he sees him. Tevan and Daeson even wrestled today...no one cried!!! Tevan crawled up on Daeson and then Daeson would "get" Tevan. It was so cute to watch. They are growing so quickly.

And a last note...I am gaining sooooo much weight!! This is what we eat: sausage, eggs, muffins or toast, fruit and juice for breakfast, leftovers usually for lunch, and then an huge dinner. Last night we had ham, funeral potatoes, candied yams, fruit salad, fresh baked rolls, carrots and olives, and strawberry shortcake. IT WAS SOOOO GOOD!!!!! I tell ya, I am going to come back as suculent as the pig we ate!!!!! But, nothing is like being at MOMS and eating yummy food. She told me it was like cooking for family all over again. Poor Troy, he is eating RAMEN!!! YUCK. I am sure he has better meals than that...Happy's, Perkin's and wherever else he is doing his seminars, and his mom's for Easter dinner. Plus, I left food in the freezer for him. He's a survivor!!!

Milestones

I never thought I would be one of those moms who forgets which child did what, but I seem to suffer from Momnesia. Tevan is growing so quickly and Daeson is smart as can be.

At seven months Tevan was happy just to be laying around. At about eight months he started to sit up by himself. That made him quite happy that I didn't have to lift him everytime he went from sitting to laying. It seems as though eight months is when babies really start to get easier. Tevan started going to Troy more at eight months and seemed to start the road to independence. Now that he is nine months, he is eating pretty much what I eat...only cut up really, really small... and he is cutting his first two teeth. The left bottom is through and the right bottom is starting to cut. He has learned to crawl and can now go from one side of the room to the other without fussing or falling on his belly. He certainly lets me know when he is hungry and when he is tired. He is a good baby and has been so, so fun. He has learned to deal with the pain of chronic ear infections and the other sicknesses he has had to endure. He waves and smiles. His cute little near toothless grin melts my heart and he is so precious.

Daeson...where do I start? First ,we just got back from a local horse/cowboy store. Our trip started out as a trip to the book store so I could start one of the Jeanette Oke series, but they didn't have it. So we tried to go to the scrapbook store, but it is Good Friday and they were closed. I told Daeson it was time to go home, but he insisted that we went to the cowboy store. They have huge horse in the store with a saddle and bridle that he likes to sit on. He talked the lady's ear off. She asked him if he has a hat, and he said it was too small. So she was a dear and found a hat his size...informing me that it was the last one his size. Then she asked if he had a lariat. Of course not...so she, so sweetly, got a little lariat and again informed me it was the last one. Now, do you think I got Daeson out of that store???? Most certainly not without the hat AND lariat. The stinker. So now he has both and I refuse to take him into that store the rest of our trip.

The other day, I think it must have been Wednesday, Grandma Cindy was trying to find a website that Daeosn would like. So she asked Daeson how to find Elmo. This was his reply the best I can remember. "Dramma, first you doe up der and click. Then you do dis (as he is pretending to type on the keyboard) and da webtite is Elmo dot tom." My mom came out and asked if it was Elmo dot com and I told her no. She said, "Oh, that is what Daeson just told me." He is so smart and he is only two!!!! I cannot believe that he is so able to catch onto every thing. What a character. DOT TOM???? LOL

Last night at the dinner table, he put corn in his ears. Yes, he stuffed little kernels of corn in his ears and then complained that it was hot. DUH!! Grandma got out her tweezers and "caught" the kernel. I have no idea where they get this. Grandpa took him outside after dinner to feed. Daeson had his Duckie boots...three sizes too big...on and decided to find every puddle on the farm. He came in head to toe covered with mud-clay-crap all over him. It was quite the site. He had a great time though and that is what it is all about!!!

Last night as we were eating dinner, we were watching deer jump the fence and cross the road. There were four of them. Daeson thought it was really neat, as did all of us. What beautiful land we live in. I have never seen prettier wildlife than up here. It makes Yellowstone look deserted as far as animals go. On the drive up here, just about Riggins, we saw 50 or more elk grazing. We saw phesant, quail, deer, and coyotes. It is so pretty up here. This is what makes me stop and re-evaluate life. We so often take for granted what we have. I am thankful for a husband who lets us come up here for weeks at a time and enjoy the scenery. Louie Armstrong said it best when he said, "What a beautiful world." We do have a beautiful world. It saddens me that people throw trash on the ground, or flick their cigarettes anywhere they please...or dirty our air with the second hand smoke...it bothers me that people are only for themselves not thinking what our children will grow up with. I worry what kind of a world that will be. I don't mean to stand on a soapbox, but I was in a thoughtful mode. We are having a fun time up here, missing Troy, but having fun. I am sure he is having fun too...who wouldn't without wife and kids. No nagging, no diapers, no one bossing hom around. What a life he gets right now!!! Lucky us though to be up here with not a whole lot of worries!!

Away from home

As you all know, I am in Grangeville, ID visiting my parents. We got here Monday night and will be here until the 4th of April...unless Troy misses us and decides to come pick us up early!!
My cousin came home from her Madagascar mission, so we went to her homecoming on Sunday in Preston. Troy dropped us off in Inkom at my Grandma Smith's. We stayed the night and left Monday to endure the long, grueling drive to Grangeville. It actually wasn't so bad. We stopped in Boise at the Cabella's store. What a cool store. They had stuffed animals from Africa. I can now say that I have seen a stuffed Rhino. They had zebras, lions, wildabeasts, worthogs, and a few other animals. It was neat. Daeson played the shoot game, too. He got three deer and four ducks. He was so proud of himself. Then we ate at Chili's. YUMYUM!! I had a fajita salad. It was delicioso!!! I have been watching DORA!! lol Then we loaded back in the car. Tevan fell asleep. When he woke up he had a tooth. Just like that!!! I couldn't believe his tooth was coming through. When we finally got here, we got kids ready for bed and, despite the hour time change, we got them to bed at a relatively good time. Or at least Tevan did. Daeson had to check things out...his bed, my bed, Tevan's bed, toys, the pantry, and many other things. He was soooo soooo excited to finally be here. We were last here the middle of Septmeber. Once he wore us all out, we finally got him to bed...Grandma had the touch.
Tuesday we went to King's and shopped. We also went to the library and the grocery store where the boys rode the money horse. This has truly been a treat for Daeson.
Wednesday was yesterday. Grandpa had the day off. That was really fun. Daeson and Grandpa watched The Man from Snowy River. Grandma and I ran into town to the Drug Store. Tevan slept nice for Grandpa. We got dinner over with early, baths done quickly and headed into the movie. Horton Hears a Who was so cute. I think it would be a cute one to buy. Daeson was actually very good. Especially since the last movie we took him to was The Bee Movie. He was awful during that one. But last night we kept him stocked with popcorn and root beer. When we got home, the kids were all ready for bed. It was nice to feed Tevan, read to Daeson and put them down for the night. I was dumb and stayed up late with my Daddy and Mommy to watch TV. About 12:30 our time, 1:30 your time, I crawled into bed. Since Tevan has been teething, he has been quite stuffy. So all night he coughed and sniffled. I had a very tiring night.
But today we are doing well. The weather is yucky, so we have not been out once. Daeson is entering the Easter coloring contest, so we have to take his picture in to the store later. I think we will also stop at the thrift store for a spell. We have stayed busy, but we are having a good time. I think we are wearing Grandma and Grandpa out!! But I am sure they are enjoying themselves. I wish I could post pictures. That will have to wait until I get back. So, check out our posts...more coming soon. We hope everyone is doing well. Tootles!!!

TAGGED...again.

So, here goes another tag thanks to my wonderful sister-in-law, Kayla.

What I was doing....

20 Years ago, March 1988: I was probably playing with Barbie. I was turning 8 in 3 mo 3 days...BAPTISM was just around the corner. I was in the second grade and my teacher was Carol Berrey. She was a great teacher, we learned how to make apple butter. Still to this day I like apple butter. I attended Willard Elementary in Kirksville, MO. My Dad was busy with school, and my mom babysat a little girl named Carlie. So we got to help her with that. My best friend was Gloria Dear.

10 Years ago, March 1998: I was dating, very seriously, Brian. I was a Senior getting ready for GRADUATION. I was actually having the time of my life. I had good teachers, good friends, and my brother was on his mission in Australia...so I had a lot of pen pals, too. We also made our Senior Government trip to Boise, ID. It was so much fun and it was also my first time to Boise. I went to Prom with Jacob Jeppsen wearing a super pretty dress...my favorite out of the three. This was also my brother Jesse's first prom. So naturally we have pictures together.

5 Years ago, March 2003: Troy and I made Kaden's birthday cake with dirtbikes. It was quite the cake...not too fancy, but he liked it. We also got family pictures taken at the Sand Dunes with my family. Troy and I were geting ready to celebrate our 5th anniversary.

3 Years ago, March 2005: I just quit the bank to start daycare, Hunter and Logan, and I was very pregnant...or at least I felt very pregnant. Heidi Grover, my sister-in-law, felt the baby kick. I was preparing to have a baby by painting the nursery, washing the clothes, and buying furniture. I was so scared to be a mommy, but I was so excited at the same time.

1 Year ago, March 2007: You guessed it, PREGNANT AGAIN!! I had just had my ultrasound...ITS A BOY. Daeson and I spent 10 days in Grangeville with my parents...a 9 hour car ride STINKS when you are 6 mo. pregnant. I was once again getting ready for a baby, but our ceiling was caving in so we had much to do. I got Daeson's new room ready. I painted, shampooed carpet, and moved furniture. In Tevan's room I painted, shampooed carpets and moved furniture. I also washed all the clothes that I had with Daeson. It was so nice having them 2 yrs and 3 weeks apart so that the clothes fit about the same. That saved so much money. I was really ready to have my baby. Daeson was geting excited too.

So far this year: Not a lot has happened this year. We did get a new basement which is almost done...except the office and bathroom. That will take time. Daeson is potty trained, and Tevan is almost 9 mo old. Time flies. We are prepairing to go to Grangeville for a month and to LasVegas for a week. I am trying to get organized and sorted out.

Yesterday: I went to a great Homemaking. We are doing an FHE packet exchange. We are doing the alphabet and I am assigned M, N, O, Z. I have to make 8 copies of each of the lessons and in return I get the other alphabets. I am not sure if that makes sense, but I am excited and ready to start FHE!!!!

Today: Wow, I talked to Troy about a new business opportunity and fed the kids. I got the kids dressed and I have done this Blog...which has taken me a lot of time and I should go do something else!!! I have laundry and vacuuming to do. I also have to bake a birthday cake for my Bro-in-law's 14th birthday. Thanks a lot Kayla!!!!! Way to get out of it...just kidding. I want to learn to do this kind of stuff. If I practice on everyone else's cake, I will be ready to do Daeson's in May and Tevan's in June!!!

Tomorrow: It is Saturday. We are going to finish the trim downstairs...I hope. I also plan to freecycle a lot of stuff and get rid of it all. I will probably start decorating the cake, too.

This year: Oh, you know. Just the usual try to stay afloat stuff. I would like to run in the Dam Marathon, but I just can't get motivated!!! It is not enough for me to just say I want to do it. I need some incentive. We celebrate year number 8 this July. I think we also have a few family reunions to go to. My family's is the last week of July...my Mom's side. It is the only reunion we have ever had. So, I would like to go. It will probably be one of the only reunions we will have. When you get big families it is hard for everyone to be there every year. Troy doesn't know this, but I would also like to think about child number three this year. He thinks we are done, but I know there is one more shouting to me...or you know, atleast I would like to try for a girl.

So, there you go. Longer than expected, but you asked for it. I love the BLOG thing. It is sort of my way of journaling. And I can do it anytime. Happy blogging. I am off the be a homemaker. Laundry, dishes, beds, bathrooms, cake making, dinner fixing.....

BaBySiTTerS

So tonight is Homemaking and I have 45 minutes to get ready. WHAT IN THE WORLD AM I DOING A BLOG FOR?!?!?! But I wanted to BLOG this before I forgot. I got this idea from Kayla...the format. So here it goes:

(The phone call previous was a cute 12 yr old boy in our ward who is just anxious to babysit. So I thought I would give him a try, Daeson just loves him and they are so cute playing together.)
MOM: Daeson, do you want a babysitter tonight? Do you want to go to Dylan's house?
DAESON: A BABYSITTER!! Oh, yes!! Ido want a babysitter. Dylan? I know Dylan. Him is nice. That would be fun mom. Mom? Does him have a Mom?
MOM: Yes, he has a Mom.
DAESON: What her name? She nice?
MOM: Her name is Cara. Yes, she is nice. She visist teaches mommy.
DAESON: Oh, I yike her name. Mom where you doein?
MOM: I am going to Relief Society.
DAESON: Oh, I yike Welwief Sotiety. Tan I doe wi you?
MOM: No, you are going to Dylan's to play.
DAESON: Otae, I yike Dylan's. Then tan I doe to Wiewief Sotiety?
MOM: No, I will get you after I am done.
DAESON: No, I tan just tay at da babytitter. Den I tan have fun.

I just thought this was super cute. Daeson loves the babysitter. We usually have Sasha babysit, but Dylan was so cute to ask. We'll try it out. He's 12, but very responsible for his age. His mom offered to watch Tevan too. Oh crap, dinners burning...gotta run!!!!

I know that we have a Heavenly Father who loves us!!

I know that I don't have a lot of time as we are headed to Pocatello, but I just want to post a bit today. It has been a discouraging day for me. I struggle with the everyday things and it gets soooo frustrating trying to do it all. I have a good husband, but he works a lot of hours so that I get to be at home with my two super cute kids...well, Daeson is a handful these days, but still cute. I am trying to plan trips, make arrangements for Las Vegas, finish the trim, laundry, and I really need to scrub my house down. I have church resposibilities I am trying to fulfill as we just got one more sister to visit teach...totalling four sisters. I love visiting teaching, but I have to take my kids and it is all BUT spiritual. I feel like I am fighting with Daeson to sit still rather than uplifting the sisters. Which leads me into my Blog for today.

Even though we get discouraged and we are not sure which way we are supposed to go, I feel so much comfort in knowing that God knows me and LOVES me unconditionally. I am not PERFECT and He does not EXPECT me to be. I know that He hears and answers my prayers...which lately are many. I have a firm knowledge that He is very mindful as to what we go through. He is our Heavenly Father, He knows us better than we know ourselves. That is sooooo very comforting. We are His children, all here to do the same thing.... RETURN WITH HONOR. I used to think that was just a missionary saying, but it pertains to us all. He asks nothing more of us than to live worthily so that we can live with him for eternity. What a wonderful, extrordinary feeling...to live with Him forever.
I know He lives and loves ME!

Cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning

I have been cleaning my basement for hours now and I am lost in the mess. Troy is supposed to put trim up in the bedroom today so that I can get that room ready for company. I have already filled the closet with holiday decorations and wrap, blankets, pillows and sheets. I cannot believe how much stuff I have. I have gotten rid of so much, yet there is still a TON left. I am sooo very addicted to FREECYCLE. If I don't want it or need it anymore, I post an ad and by the end of the day everything is gone! I don't have to haul it anywhere and it goes to someone who wants it or needs it. It is out of my house and makes it a lot easier to keep my house clean. I have been trying to evaluate my food storage. I am not sure why I buy some things...I never really use it. I guess I should have been more generous on the food drive days because today I am getting rid of a lot of EXPIRED things. I hate waste. It's good to go through it, but kinda discouraging. I used to be so organized and then I had kids and life got three times busier. Hmph. But they are so worth it to me. The best that ever happened to me...and Troy of course. If anyone has a good organizing system for food storage, I would love to know. I really, really, really want the rotating food storage shelves, but they are so expensive. I already have shelves downstairs so it seems like a waste. I am lost on how to do it...do I put soups together, vegetables and fruits...or do I put tomatoe stuff, meats, soups, rice, cous cous, ect. I just don't know what to do. I have all my canning stuff on a couple of shelves. I think all this organizing makes me anxious for summer and spring. Case lot sales should start in March...but then at the end of summer it's canning season!!!! WOOOHOOOO!!! I really do enjoy it...Kayla if you want to make jam I will help you this year. But for the second time in four summers, we are going to plant a garden. I am praying for a great garden so I can bottle all the YUMMY foods. My friend Barb helped me make salsa and carrots last year...SCRUMPTIOUS! It was so delicious that we only open a jar per month so we can have it through the year. Pears, peaches, strawberry jam, peach jam, tomatoes, salsa, carrots, green beans, beets, and fruit cocktail are just a few that I want to can. I know that is a tall order, but I think I really want to start doing more canning because it is better for my family. I get to regulate the sugar and salt content. I get to peel the fruits and veggies by hand so that I know only fresh ingredients go into my food. I need to look out for my family's health. There is so much junk out there. I have been inspired, I just hope it isn't a phase I'm going through. Well, I know the title of this is cleaning, but if you know me at all, you know that I am scatter brained and I get sidetracked A LOT! Have a great day today...off to make lunch and do some more CLEANING!!!!

Holy Cow...lots to do!!!

Okay, so I am so STINKING excited!!!! Daeson, Tevan and I have a TON of exciting things coming up. We are leaving in a few weeks to go to my mom and dad's in Grangeville for 3 weeks. It will be good to see them and have some warmer weather...not a lot warmer, but a little. Then, we will be home for a few days and then: OFF TO LAS VEGAS!!!!!!!! WOO HOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Troy will get to go with us on this journey. We are going with my parents and staying in their condo. So, Daeson will FINALLY get to fly in an AIRPLANE. He was so cute today, he brought me his 8 pennies ans said, "Mom, I got monies to go to VasBedas. Is enough?" Oh, children are so honest, charitable, and excitable!!!! It will be fun to go to Circus Circus, M&M, Coke, Lego Land and Excaliber...of course there has to be horses involved!!! We are now trying to put our "monies" together so we can go. Flights are SUPER cheap right now, so we should be able to pull it off. I am so excited...good thing I started my training for the half-marathon. Now maybe I can be in better shape for my super-exciting trip and go swimming...or just fit into my clothes from two summers ago. WOOHOOO!! I am so sosoosososososososo excited!!!!
